Important notes about using the Spinal Outpatients service
Spinal outpatients is a multidisciplinary team including nurses, therapists and medical staff to provide patients with our services after discharge.
- This is where your consultant will see you to review your progress after discharge from your initial rehabilitation.
- You might see one of our specialist nurses as well, or be referred to attend a clinic usually by your consultant, covering the following:
– Bowel management
– weight management
– urology
– sexuality and fertility
– Pre-op assessment
– complex wound assessment
– gynaecology
– upper limb
– baclofen pump refill
– orthopaedics
– Botox
Please note: you will not attend these clinics unless you are referred by the NSIC team.
Covid Pandemic and the Spinal Outpatients service
- Due to the pandemic we are also conducting clinical assessments and advice over the phone or virtually via video calls to avoid unnecessary travel.
- If a face to face appointment is required you are expected to arrange your own transport to visit the centre, this could be through your local council or GP.
- Detailed instructions on Covid safety measures during your appointment will be sent to you with the appointment letter
