Maintenance rehabilitation can help slow down or limit the loss of function for persons with SCI which occurs as they age.

The impact of the ageing process is different in people with SCI compared to their non disabled peers.

 

Maintenance goals and therapy are not always seen as “medically necessary” and can be difficult to obtain. Knowing what will help and what can be done is important in maintaining a level of functioning needed for independence and participation in your community as you age.


Anecdotal evidence abounds about the complicated and exhausting process a person with SCI faces when trying to new equipment and appropriate technologies.

Knowledge is important and everything that people can know and plan for their own wellbeing is important if not vital to stay well both physically and emotionally.
